Dylan Werner South African Tour 2020!

At Yoga South Africa, we were so excited when Casey Chiang reached out to let us know that she will be presenting a South Africa Tour with Dylan Werner in April 2020! Whether you practice with him on AloMoves, or simply know him from Instagram, Dylan is a renowned Yoga Practitioner and Teacher who is currently traveling the world, teaching workshops, trainings, festivals and retreats.

Dylan Werner is an international yoga teacher from Southern California. He pioneers a unique style of vinyasa yoga centered on myofascial meridian sequencing and emphasizes the exploration of a physical journey to deepen the inner energetic connection. His extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology and deep understanding of eastern philosophy lends a unique perspective to his teaching methodologies. Although his practice appears very advanced, his workshops aim at breaking down the fundamental concepts, creating an accessible approach to complicated movements and ideas.

Dylan has been teaching since 2011 and has taught in over 60 countries and more than 400 workshops or events. He is passionate about spreading his love for yoga and helping others in their journey by sharing his own.

FRIDAY

The Kinetic Ascent Myofascial Meridian Sequenced Vinyasa Class

A dynamic vinyasa class guided through intelligent myofascial meridian sequencing to create a balance between antagonistic lines and self-balancing lines. Ascend towards challenging arm balances and handstands, with options given to modify and play with along the way.

(3-hour Vinyasa class) All Levels

Anatomy of Handstands Workshop

10:00 - 13:00

Dive deep into understanding how the muscles, bones, and myofascial meridians support us in a handstand.  We'll take the theory and integrate it into practice to create foundational techniques to improve your structure, alignment, and proprioception to build the ideal handstand.

SATURDAY

The Physiology of Flexibility

15:30 - 19:00

During the course, we will weave through lecture and practice to understand what the myofascia is and its qualities, such as elasticity, viscoelasticity (slow and fast properties), plasticity, glide, and remodeling, and how our genetics play a significant roll in our flexibility.

Quest for the Press

10:00-13:30

The workshop begins with focused and intense conditioning drills that are necessary for a successful press to handstand, and will also dramatically improve your freestanding handstand. We will cover through lecture and highly specific drills, with and without partners, on how to understand the sensations of pressing, weight distribution, pelvic movement, and lift that will later make you successful in your handstand press.

Prana Deep Dive

15:30-19:00

Dive deep into meditative breath and movement through the profound journey of a prana-focused practice.This workshop begins with an energtic sequenced pranayama breath flow. Then through in-depth lecture, we will explore the techniques and benefits of pranayama with a deep focus on Kumbhaka (breath retention) concentrating on both the western physiological and anatomical properties as well as the eastern more spiritual, meditative qualities of the practice.
