ABOUT MIKKO                                                                                                                                                                         Mikko’s approach to teaching is two-fold:

To hold encouraging space for your own discovery of self, and To continuously encourage you to explore, within all of you, places and perspectives you may not have tried or gone to before.

Mikko has been studying yoga for almost 20 years and stepped onto the yoga mat for the first time in Helsinki, Finland while studying social sciences, pursuing a career in journalism and PR, and burning through at least one pair of running shoes a year. The first practice challenged him in an entirely new way, and he wanted to find out why. Mikko started his daily visits to the mat and a few years later the exploration took him to Mysore, India. After yearly visits to the source of Astanga yoga Mikko received the Level 2 teaching authorization by KPJAYI .

7:00 – 8:30 PRANAYAMA AND BEYOND, PART 1
Pranayama is a fine science and a subtle art which requires time and practice to be truly understood. This two part workshop will help you to better understand your breath and will provide you with tools to move towards the fourth limb of yoga: pranayama. You will learn a basic pranayama routine, that can open the door to new possibilities within the yoga practice. All welcome.
R750* / R850 (part 1&2) *Early Bird by 8 Feb

10:00 – 12:00 BACK TO BASICS
Our senses are constantly being stimulated and our focus going outward. To achieve progress in yoga we have to focus inward. To do this, we can use the Tristhana method which consists of asana, breathing and gazing points. In this led class we’ll take an in-depth look at these foundational elements, so that they can blossom into an integrated yoga practice. This workshop is ideal for those curious about Ashtanga Yoga. All welcome.
R550*/ R650 *Early Bird by 8 Feb

12:30 – 14:30 JUMPING AROUND
We will explore techniques to build strength and stamina for this transitional element, the jump back and jump through. Join visiting teacher Mikko Seppinen from Finland for some challenging fun! R550*/ R650 *Early Bird by 8 Feb

WORKSHOPS on Sunday, 10 March 2019

7:30 – 9:00 PRANAYAMA AND BEYOND, PART 2
R750*/ R850 (part 1&2) *Early Bird by 8 Feb

11:30 – 13:30 1% THEORY
“99% practice, 1% theory” – Sri K Pattabhi Jois. Most of us enter yoga eager to learn the “asanas” or physical postures. As we deepen our practice, we realise that it is only the third of eight (ashta) limbs (anga) that make up the eight limbs of yoga.

R550*/ R650 *Early Bird by 8 Feb

14:00 – 16:00 HIP HIP HOORAY!
Hips are the junction between our upper body and legs. Tight hips can cause many issues not only in our hip joints but also in our knees, ankles, lower back, spine, and shoulders. Hip-opening poses can be challenging but working intelligently with the hips can also be energising and rejuvenating, offering the opportunity for great emotional release.
