CPT: The Vegan & Plant Powered Way Show

  • Cape Town International Conference Centre 1 Lower Long Street Cape Town, WC, 8000 South Africa (map)

... the first of its kind in South Africa!

The Vegan & Plant Powered Show - which will be held in Cape Town on 30 and 31 May 2020 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) - will be the first of its kind in South Africa, bringing the vegan, plant-based and sustainable living revolution to a mainstream audience.

Aimed at those looking to live and enjoy a healthier, more conscious and sustainable lifestyle, with a smaller environmental footprint, the two-day event will feature international and local celebrity cooks and chefs presenting live demos, as well as over 120 exhibitors showcasing the very latest products and services from food and drink producers and lifestyle brands in the vegan, plant-based, conscious and sustainable industries from within South Africa, as well as on a global scale.

Designed to cater for the whole family, The Vegan & Plant Powered Show will include:

  • The Plant Kitchen - The Celebrity Chef Live Cooking Theatre which will include top international and local celebrity chefs and cooks in action as they show you the easiest and best ways to create fantastic vegan and plant-based dishes.

  • The Great Big Vegan Banquet: a 3-course menu inspired by the show’s celebrity chefs, in which our chefs will share their anecdotes, stories and tales.

  • A Plant-Powered Fun Run to help raise funds for charity.

  • Ethical and sustainable products, services and solutions.

  • Creative and cutting-edge innovations created to aid in a shift towards a sustainable lifestyle.

  • Celebrities, special guests, entertainment, unbeatable shopping deals, special show offers and free tasters.

  • An abundant selection of food and drinks, pop-up restaurants and free samples of some of the best plant-based alternatives in the market.

  • Mindful cocktails and vegan wine walk.

  • A VIP Luxe Experience: Star treatment for visitors to help make their day out extra special

  • A Kid’s Plant Power Zone with fun activities to keep children entertained.

One of the show highlights will be the 'Plant-Power Talks' (on the ProVeg Stage), hosted by leading food awareness organisation ProVeg International.

Says ProVeg Director Donovan Will: "As the global move towards more plant-based diets and vegan lifestyles has been growing, South Africans are learning about the benefits of this change - the Vegan & PlantPowered Show is a great opportunity to accelerate this learning, and for the public to experience the best that the movement has to offer, and to find out more about the health, environmental and ethical benefits of moving towards a more plant-based diet. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to sample, and even learn to cook, tasty, healthy and sustainable food. Anyone with an interest in food, health, the environment or more conscious living, will benefit from attending the show."

The Vegan & PlantPowered Show is not only aimed at vegans and vegetarians but also flexitarians, reducetarians, sports enthusiasts, individuals who would like to find out about a more holistic approach to healthcare, and those looking for healthier and more ethical lifestyle choices for themselves & their families.

Final word from Julie-May Ellingson, Chief Executive Officer of the CTICC: “The CTICC is excited to be hosting the Vegan and PlantPowered Show – a first for South Africa. The show speaks to the CTICC’s commitment to social and environmental sustainability by hosting events that highlight sustainable thinking and innovation. Global trends show that society is moving toward living healthier lifestyles, whether it be through exercise or cooking. Hosting the event at the CTICC is a testament to our commitment to the exchange of knowledge and exposing audiences to new ideas.”
