Original Condition with Dave Gardner
In Episode 12, we sat down with Dave Gardner to explore his proposal of “Original Condition”. This is the first part of two episodes that we will be launching this week. After listening to our discussion, visit episode 13 where you can practice a Guided meditation with Dave.
Original Condition is a proposition. It is a question, rather than a statement. A collective observation.
In this way it is an ongoing community research project into the enquiry of human capacity. Movement, meditation, immersion into natural environments and communication are explored to investigate what is our original condition.
The aim is to cultivate awareness around stimulus and response. The investigation is what brings the practice to life. Being & doing are intrinsic actions of our original condition, what we are and how we interact with the world reveal our interpretation of this. Our how & why is revealed.
If we can live from and through our original condition, what is possible? The practice empowers the search and acquiring of tools to expand our capacity and potential.
The practice studies six interconnected pillars: Function / Technique / Research / Play / Self-study / Community
Dave’s experience so far has been influenced and inspired by Henry Madini of CAMA Muay Thai SA, Jim Harrington and Simon Borg-Olivier of Yoga Synergy, Aditi Gaur of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition, Cameron Shayne of Budokon University, David Aghion of Gracie Barra, Richie Lowe of Renzo Gracie Cape Town, Tom Weksler’s Movement Archery, Tomislav English’s Ferus Animi Terra Nova and Iesu Escalante’s Shifting methods, Shaolin Wushu and Acrobatics.
Dave’s process is to study with these and other teachers, to research through his personal practice and develop a way in which we all contribute to one another’s lives and work.
“What I discover through my study and practice is what I share.”
Dave currently host masterclasses, weekend workshops, monthly immersion’s, and retreats. His work is to assist and facilitate the individual to create their own path through self-awareness.
