200-hour Vinyasa Teachers Training, 8 March - 23 June, Cape Town

This transformative programme is designed to take each student step by step through the journey to becoming a safe and effective yoga teacher.

Our one-month programme details:

Correct alignment in all the foundational physical poses (asana).

Considered and intelligent sequencing.

Deeper understanding of breath technique (pranayama).

Self-inquiry and yogic philosophy.

 .

A special aspect of this programme is a 3-night retreat at Cederkloof Botanical Retreat in Citrusdal. All transport, accommodation and food is included in the course price.

The retreat allows us to fully immerse into practice of asana, pranayama, chanting and meditation. Thomas Sheehy will nurture us with a whole food menu and nutritional discourse for sustainable health and vitality.

Graduates of The Shala Teachers Training programme are equipped to become fully-accredited professional yoga teachers. Each step of the way, the art and discipline required for a lifetime of self-practice is taught. This course requires 100% attendance.

The main themes that will be covered throughout the 4 week programme include:

Month 1: Art of touch and body observation, Foundational poses and safe alignment., Holistic anatomy and physiology, Yin yoga, pranayama and meditation.

Month 2: Self-inquiry and chakra systems, Foundational poses and safe alignment, Voice technique and teaching practical’s, Teaching action and feedback.

Month 3: The art of nutrition, Chanting and meditation, Teaching skills and technique, Preparation for teaching assignment and feedback, Delivery of teaching assignment in public class (Saturday).

Month 4: Kriya practice and feedback of assignments, Seva module, Business module with company accountant, Anatomy and philosophy assignment, Graduation.

Please email info@theshala.co.za to request an application form and arrange an eligibility interview with Tamsin. Please note that a minimum of 2-years dedicated yoga practice is required, and that each student should be in good health and relative physical fitness.

The Shala – Cape Town Yoga School is a fully registered school with Yoga Alliance. This course requires 100% attendance to meet Yoga Alliance Accreditation. 100% attendance, as well as, completion of all assignments and practical’s are required for certification. Failure to meet the required number of hours can be made-up via private tuition with Tamsin or an appointed Shala yoga teacher at a rate of R500 per hour. Please note that private tuition is subject to scheduling and may delay graduation.The Shala exclusively reserves the right to withhold certification of any student that fails to meet the full requirements and hours of the course.
