About:

“If you can breathe you can do yoga” - Krishnamacharya.

Néna Butler is an actress, yoga student and qualified vinyasa yoga teacher with a passion for helping people find more comfort, joy and connection on their yoga mat and in life. She grew up in Noordhoek and was introduced to yoga as a teenager and since then her curiosity and love for the practise have blossomed.

Through combining her expertise as yogi and performer she is passionate about sharing her yoga journey with others in a playful and relatable manner. Néna teaches at various studios around Cape Town. She also teaches private clients, giving them the individualised attention in their yoga practice, something that she feels very passionate about. She teaches outdoor classes on a rooftop in the Bo Kaap through her company @yogapla.za

She completed her 200hour training at The Shala and considers this space her home away from home. She is constantly inspired by new trainings and teachers and recently completed a 50hour yoga training in Creative Sequencing with Maya Pratt as well as a 30 Hour Intensive Training for Yoga Teachers with Tamsin Sheehy and Lara Roux who she feels honoured to learn from on a daily basis. Nena plans on completing her 300hour training in 2019 and wants to delve deeper into the therapeutics of yoga through further studies.

“Yoga for me is freedom, self love, community and strength. The practice is a powerful, multifaceted gift that I hope to share through my classes and interactions with people.”
