Ayurveda and Yoga: Understanding your Personal Practice

Ayurveda is the science of life and the sister science to Yoga. This workshop will focus on the relationship between Ayurveda and Yoga and how we can intermingle our understanding of both to build a more supportive and healthy personal practice that will promote wellness and longevity. This is an experiential learning experience where you will be discovering your individual Dosha (mind/body/spirit constitution) and exploring yogic movement and pranayama/breathing exercises to build your personal practice as well as knowledge you can use in your offerings and classes.

Ayurveda for Weight Control and Better Digestion

In this workshop we will be discovering how to eat for the season, what foods and spices will support your individual digestion best, and methods and tools to assist in bringing balanced nutrition and agni (digestive fire) into your life for weight control and overall health. You will learn how to make Churnas (digestive spice mixes) and ghee (cultured butter) as well as the importance of understanding the properties of water and best times to eat for improved quality of life and longevity.

Ayurveda is a 5000+ year old ancient art and science of life. How we cleanse and take care of our bodies is essential to longevity and the quality of our existence. In this workshop you will learn how to take care of all of your sense organs (skin, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth) to combat aging, which herbs and oils are the most supportive for your constitution and when, and how to create a daily routine that will cultivate health and preventative medicine to eliminate disease.

Kirsten has over 20 years of working with moving bodies, trauma, and building trauma informed curriculum. She is the Executive Director of Legacy Motion, an NGO that supports individuals and communities impacted by trauma by offering sustainable programing and trainings to community members in trauma informed, restorative movement based practices and somatic therapy modalities. Each program and project honors traditional healing methods, supports the collective human experience, and provides learning opportunities to aid in accessible and equitable mental healthcare through the mind/body connection. She is also the founder of Healing Motion, a private practice that offers somatic coaching and embodied practices that support mental health by assisting individuals in discovering their innate wisdom, restoring their embodied strength, and transcending to holistic wellbeing through nervous system self-regulation, lifestyle balance, and personalized wellness programs.
